ECO Pledge

Our Pledge

At CREASE, we are committed to push for responsible change and drive ethical innovation across all areas of garment design, production and distribution. This includes fabrics, working practices and circulation of our garments.

The fashion industry is one of the greatest contributors to CO2 emissions, landfill and poor practices and we are determined to change this.

Although we may not always get it right, we are committed to constantly challenging the way we work, to push for better change and ways of working that benefit the world and all that live in it.

Responsible Business Design

Here at CREASE we aim to make pieces that become a favourite in your wardrobe and, with a little love and care, favorites in generations to come.

It is our belief that garments should be built to last and not contribute to the landfill mountains the textile industry has created. Because of this, we design for our pieces to be timeless, away from trends and only use the highest quality materials that are sourced sustainably and ethically. Our collections are produced “Made to order” and we always create in small quantities to avoid any material waste.

We have a transparent approach to working and are constantly looking at ways to design for disassembly. Considering the life cycle of the piece, rather than its up front function, is essential for circularity.

To help your pieces last, we offer a repair service for all of our customers. For a small fee, to cover wages, we will repair any CREASE piece in order to breathe new life into your garments.

As a small team, we are consciously finding new ways to make sustainable choices in every area of our work from design to completion.

As this is a continuous work in progress, we’d love to hear from you on how to be better! If you have any tips or tricks please let us know.

In house practices

  • Sustainability is at the core of what we do and it’s our mission to reduce waste and contribute to an industry of slow, ethical fashion where everyone involved within the supply chain has fair working hours and pay.

  • Whenever possible we are adapting the way we design to incorporate no waste pattern cutting techniques.

  • We embed sustainable thinking into our design process and aim to only use materials natural to the earth as these are biodegradable.

  • All of our hardware and components are made of properties natural to the earth. (Buttons in our collections are made from shells) and sourced locally within london to keep carbon emissions low.

  • We rework all of our offcuts and waste fabric from manufacturers and in the studio into new creations. Bags and accessories sold as one off pieces give the material a new chance to become a treasure for someone's wardrobe.

  • Limited use of plastics - Where plastic can be avoided we do not use it and we are aiming to make our studio free from plastic completely in the next few years. Microplastics are never used in any of our materials.

  • Completely recycled and sustainably sourced packaging.

  • The emergency point in which our world is aching - we often feel consumed by the overwhelming emergency on all that needs to be done. Trying not to get consumed by it all can be hard - in the studio we try and combat this by focusing on a pressing issue each month and challenging ourselves to see how we can make improvements with CREASE and in our personal lives. Manufacturing Processes

We only manufacture in the UK in order to reduce our CO2 emissions and also ensure a high standard of working conditions, pay and work benefits. This also allows us to regularly visit, build relationships and invest in small, local businesses.

We make small runs of each collection to reduce waste and avoid landfill, with many of our pieces on a made to order basis. This allows us to only order and use the fabric we need.

Our materials and components are all sourced and produced through a carefully selected network of suppliers located within the UK and EU. The majority of which are across the UK and London based who we have met with personally. This not only helps us to reduce our carbon footprint when importing but allows us to invest in local communities and smaller businesses within london.

Material choices

As a brand we have always firmly believed that garments should not come at a cost to human or animal life.

Working with silk has enabled us to use a fabric that is kind to the earth in its biodegradable and natural fibre structure, however we recognize this usually comes at the expense of Silk Worms.

We are excited to be in the process of moving our silk suppliers over to an organic ‘Peace Silk’ approved UK manufacturer as part of our efforts to reduce suffering in the materials we use.

Packaging

All of our packaging is made from recycled material, ethically sourced and manufactured in the UK to reduce CO2 emissions and support small, local businesses. We never use plastic.

  • Our branded boxes are made from 90% recyclable material that is recyclable and easily compostable at home.

  • Our swing tags are made from 100% recycled t-shirts and are uncoated for easy home-composting.

  • Our postal boxes and protective packaging are often recycled from orders received and are 100% compostable and recyclable.

  • All woven labels within each piece have been made in the UK from cotton.

As a company we want to be 100% transparent with you and this is something we are working to communicate on our website.
